How it works
Three steps from intro to payout
- 1
Join a program
Sign up through the program's own page, and register each company before you make the intro, since Pewter, for one, gives the credit to the first partner who registers it, for 12 months.2
- 2
Introduce a company that fits
Check the company against the program's size and location rules, get the owner's OK, and pass them on. The buyer pays your fee, so it costs the company nothing.2,13
- 3
Get paid when they're paid
Your fee comes after the company signs and is paid. Ventra says it usually makes an offer in 3-7 days and pays owners in 30-60 days, and Pewter pays partners within 30 days after the business is paid.14,2
Rules to know
Read the terms before you pitch anyone
Don't call yourself their agent or partner
micro1's terms bar referrers from presenting themselves as its agent, recruiter, representative or partner, so introduce yourself as someone who refers companies to it.15
You're paid after the business is paid
Fees come once the company has signed and been paid, which can take months, and micro1 can withhold, delay, reduce or refuse a payout under its terms.2,16
Only introduce owners who said yes
Pewter only takes introductions to owners who have agreed to hear from it, and micro1 bars referring a company you own or work for without written disclosure.2,17
