An HVAC, plumbing or electrical shop on ServiceTitan records every service call from the first ring. The CSR's call is recorded, the job is booked and dispatched, the technician adds notes and photos on site, an estimate goes out with options, and the job closes with an invoice and often a membership sale. After six or eight years that is tens of thousands of diagnosed problems, each with what the customer said, what the tech found and what it cost to fix.
That is the record buyers say they want from the trades. The Information reported startups paying HVAC companies $150,000 for data, and Nyne names dispatch and scheduling data among what it buys.
ServiceTitan also has the most detailed published rules of any trades platform: a customer ownership clause, a paid export of the whole account, a 60-day export period, a ban on AI agents scraping the platform, and API terms aimed squarely at AI training. This page lays them out as written, alongside what the account holds and what to ask a buyer.

- Polyshares takes hvac, plumbing and electrical, without marking it premium.25
- VMS, a broker, gives construction standard weight when it estimates value.26

| Technician job notes | ServiceTitan notes on jobs, locations and projects | What the tech found, what they tried and what fixed it, written on site for the next visit. | Customer names and home addresses on every job. |
| Booked call recordings | ServiceTitan call recordings | How CSRs turn a worried homeowner into a booked job, the front door of the business. | Call recordings carry voices and personal details; transcripts are not downloadable under the terms. |
| Estimates with options | ServiceTitan estimates | Good, better, best options written for a specific problem, and which one the customer chose. | Pricing the shop may treat as confidential. |
| Dispatch and scheduling history | ServiceTitan dispatch board and job records | Which tech went where and why, against skills, distance and urgency. | Nothing specific |
| Customer and location history | ServiceTitan customer and location records | Years of visits to the same equipment, a maintenance story with outcomes. | Equipment at a named address can identify a household. |

A week of records
A week of data at a shop
- Monday: a heat wave fills the board; CSRs book sixty no-cool calls, each one recorded.
- Tuesday: techs add notes on failed capacitors and a cracked heat exchanger, with photos on the job.
- Wednesday: three replacement estimates go out with three options each, and one homeowner signs on site.
- Thursday: dispatch reshuffles routes around an emergency slab leak and logs why.
- Friday: membership tune-ups fill the schedule, and the forms record every checklist item.

Selling or closing
Selling or closing your shop? License its data first
If a shop is being sold or switching software, timing matters. ServiceTitan's terms say it is not obligated to keep data beyond 60 days after termination, and its full-account export comes as a SQL Server backup with service fees possible. Request it before any change of platform or ownership.3,4
FAQ
ServiceTitan data: questions, answered
Reports export to PDF or XLSX, governed by reporting permissions. For the whole account, ServiceTitan's terms say it makes commercially reasonable efforts to export Customer Data as a SQL Server backup or .MTF file to authorized contacts, and that service fees may apply.4
ServiceTitan's Terms of Use, last updated 2026-09-16, say in section 8(a) that the customer owns and retains all right, title and interest in all Customer Data. ServiceTitan owns aggregate data, its AI tools and usage data. We quote; we do not interpret.2
Section 7 of the Terms of Use says users may not use any AI agent, which it defines to include bots, web scrapers and automated scripts, to extract, scrape or harvest data from ServiceTitan. Show that clause to any buyer who proposes a connector.43
The API Terms, updated 2026-04-15, say developers may not use data obtained through the APIs to train, fine-tune or benchmark any AI, or use the APIs to build AI training datasets. They also bar bulk extraction and combining content from multiple ServiceTitan customers.5
SaaStr reported that ServiceTitan gave roughly 1,000 shared customers about 30 days' notice before switching off the Podium integration, and tied it to API terms that bar AI systems from choosing endpoints on their own. The article shows no publication date.45
The Information headlined startups paying HVAC companies $150,000 for data. Published ranges mostly run $100K to $2M, as the buyers' own claims: micro1 states $100K-$2M+ per data package, Cognor Labs and Ventra $100K-$2M, and monsterdata.ai $50K-$1M for a one-time sale. A buyer's own offer is the only real price.1,8,46,47,48
