Is Ooak Data legit? What the public registers show
Ooak Data is a small company you can look up: France's public register lists Ooak Data SAS as created on September 9, 2024 and active, and Y Combinator lists it in its Summer 2026 batch with a team of 5. Ooak names no seller on its page and no lab behind the three contracts it claims, so its company can be checked but its deals cannot.1,2,3,4
Its headline says "Earn up to $1M"; the same page says closed deals reach several hundred thousand dollars.3

On the record
Where Ooak Data shows up outside its own site
Ooak Data has two companies. Its legal page names Ooak Data, Inc., a Delaware company with a Wilmington address, and Ooak Data SAS in Paris, whose registration number matches the French public register. ooakdata.com was registered on August 29, 2024, days before the French company, so the business is about two years old even though its Y Combinator batch is this year's.5,1,6,2
Y Combinator lists Pierre-Louis Vouteau as CEO, Thomas Aubry as CTO and a third cofounder, Gregoire. CB Insights, a data directory, lists a $500K convertible note. A job post says Ooak has signed contracts with three labs, which is Ooak's statement, and it names none of them.2,7,4

Five minutes
Four checks on Ooak Data you can run yourself
Enter 932 867 963 in France's public company directory at annuaire-entreprises.data.gouv.fr. It should show Ooak Data as active, created on September 9, 2024, at 60 rue Francois Ier in Paris.1
Open Ooak Data's listing on the Y Combinator company directory and match the founders' names to whoever wrote to you, then find them on LinkedIn.2
Search Ooak Data, Inc. in Delaware's free entity name search and compare it with the legal page. We took the Delaware details from Ooak's own site, so this is the outside step.5
Look for owners' accounts. Trustpilot has no page for ooakdata.com, so you will not find owners' accounts there, and it is fair to ask Ooak for a seller to speak with.9
What to ask
What to get from Ooak Data before you send anything
Ask Ooak Data which of its two companies signs your agreement, and how long the license lasts, since the page gives no term. Ask what "2 to 4 weeks" covers and how many days until you are paid. Ask whose counsel reviews everything before signature, and ask for one seller from those closed deals who will talk to you.5,10,8,11
Ooak Data is not one of the firms we introduce, so contact it directly if you want its terms. Our match shows which buyers we do work with take a company like yours, so a young company's offer has something to sit beside.
Process
How it works with each buyer
In each buyer's own words. Where a buyer publishes nothing, we say so.
Ooak Data
- Email, Slack and Teams, documents, tickets, code and pull requests, CRM, support, spreadsheets, contracts, financial records, product analytics and wikis12
- Operating, winding-down and closed companies, with no headcount or years floor in the page text; value rises with years, headcount, number of tools and how they connect13
- Headline "Earn up to $1M"; "Deals to date range from $20K, the smallest closed, to several hundred thousand dollars"3
- Ooak extracts from a native export or read-only access; its in-house engine anonymizes with one entity dictionary across sources and blacks out faces, logos and signatures; you review a sample; only Ooak sees raw data14
- Raw archive deleted within 30 days of delivery, as a contract obligation with written confirmation; the anonymized dataset is kept for the license term15
- About one hour of your time. "2 to 4 weeks" appears with no statement of what it covers, and payment is described only as "We pay fast"8

The same checks for every company we profile. We state facts; you decide.
